“This Was Supposed to Be a Simple Celebration, and Now There’s Glitter in My Bra” - Dylan’s Diary excerpt

10:02 AM – Zoey showed up with three cakes, a blowtorch, and a mood board titled “Edible Drama.”
She said fondant is “a scam by the sugar lobby.” She also said if anyone touched the lemon curd layer before she blessed it, they would lose a finger.

10:37 AM – Dean, Mason, and Brett arrived. They said they were there to “help.”
They moved exactly one table and then stood around doing bicep curls with soda packs.
Dean opened a folding chair and called it “deployment-ready.”
Brett “accidentally” walked past the mirror seven times.
Mason was shirtless. No one knows why. No one asked him to be.

11:08 AM – I asked Dean to hang string lights. He held the ladder like a manly statue while Mason climbed it. Mason dropped a hook. Brett yelled “incoming” like he was storming Normandy. The hook landed in the guac.

11:46 AM – Pete arrived. Blew his whistle. Declared a flag on vibes.
He confiscated the tequila bottle Zoey was using to “level the cake.” She blew him a kiss. He threw a second flag.

12:00 PM – We have streamers, cupcakes, a playlist titled “I’ll Cry If I Want To (and Punch Someone Too),” and one broken folding chair (Dean sat “with confidence”).

12:22 PM – I found glitter in my bra. I was not near the glitter. I was never near the glitter. The glitter finds you.

1:00 PM – The party is almost ready. The book is dropping July 15th!
