đ Manuscript Monday: Character Spotlight
INTERVIEW WITH ZOEY DANIELS
*Owner of Slapshot Sweets Bakery | Book: Sweet Score
Q: Zoey, you run one of the most popular bakeries in San Antonio and just survived a romance with a hockey player. Whatâs tougherâwedding season or dating Mason Michaels?
Zoey: Wedding season, no contest. Masonâs only dangerous to my sanity and my kitchen. Brides? Brides are a full-contact sport.
Q: You didnât grow up playing hockey, but itâs in your blood. Tell us about that.
Zoey: My dad was a hockey legend. I was the kid in the stands with glitter on my cheeks and frosting under my fingernails. I never picked up a stick, but I learned grit and grace from the game anyway.
Q: Mason called you âthe real MVP.â Your response?
Zoey: He says that because I bring snacks to bed.
(smirks)
But honestly? We make a good team. He brings the chaos. I bring cupcakes.
Q: What do people get wrong about you?
Zoey: That Iâm sweet just because I bake. Iâm not meanâbut Iâm not a doormat either. I know how to say no. And I know how to burn a cake on purpose if someone crosses the line.
Q: Any advice for girls who want to own their power and fall in love?
Zoey: You donât have to shrink to fit someoneâs life. The right person will make room at the tableâfrosting, flour explosions, fire extinguisher and all.
Q: Whatâs your biggest pet peeve?
Zoey: People who touch tiered cakes before theyâre served. And men who think confidence is the same as arrogance. Spoiler: itâs not.
Q: Final thoughts?
Zoey: If youâre still readingâgrab a fork. Thereâs enough sweetness, spice, and smirking idiots with hockey sticks to go around.
