đ Manuscript Monday: Character Spotlight
INTERVIEW WITH BRETT THOMPSON
*San Antonio Outlaws | Halfback | Book: Playing it Safe
Q: Brett, you're not exactly the chatty type. What made you agree to this interview?
Brett: Dylan made me.
(shrugs)
Also, Sam said if I ghosted this, sheâd post that picture of me in the glitter face mask. So here we are.
Q: Letâs talk about Sam. Your sisterâs best friend. Complicated much?
Brett: Itâs only complicated when people get in our business.
(beat)
Okay. Yeah. It was complicated. But some people are worth every mess.
Q: Youâve played football your entire life. What would you be doing if you werenât on the field?
Brett: Coaching. I donât know how to do anything else. Donât want to, either. Footballâs the only place thatâs ever made sense.
Q: What do you think people get wrong about you?
Brett: That Iâm cold. Iâm not. I just donât perform emotion for an audience. If you matter to meâyou know it. You feel it.
Q: Whatâs one thing fans donât know about you?
Brett: I can braid hair.
(smirks)
Had to learn fast when Dylan asked me with a tangle the size of Texas and mom wasnât home.
Q: Give us your game plan in five words or less.
Brett: Play hard. Love harder. Repeat.
